Getting started

What Roleplay+ Tickets is, what the bot needs and how to open your first ticket in five minutes.

Roleplay+ Tickets is a ticket bot for Discord, run as a hosted service. A member presses a button and a private channel opens for them and your team. You set up everything in a web dashboard, so nobody has to remember a single configuration command.

You need the Manage Server permission on a Discord server to add the bot and to open its dashboard.

#How it works

  1. You add the bot to your server.
  2. In the dashboard you create a panel: a message with one or more buttons, a dropdown or a command that opens tickets.
  3. A member uses the panel. The bot opens a ticket channel that only this member and your support roles can see.
  4. Your team answers, claims, closes and saves a transcript. The bot keeps numbers, names and permissions in order.

Everything you change in the dashboard applies right after you save. The bot reloads the settings of your server on every save.

#Add the bot

Open the dashboard, sign in with Discord and pick your server. Servers without the bot show Add bot. Discord then lists the permissions the bot asks for. Keep them all ticked: each one is used by a feature, and missing ones are the most common reason why something does not work.

You can check the permissions at any time with $debug in the channel where something fails. The bot lists what it is missing there and on the server.

#Commands and prefix

The bot registers slash commands, and every command also works with the prefix. The default prefix is $, so /close and $close do the same. Change the prefix in Server configs. The full list is on the Commands page.

#Your first panel in five minutes

  1. In the dashboard open Panel configs and create a panel. It starts with sensible defaults.
  2. Under General, choose your support roles. These roles see every ticket of this panel.
  3. Under Category, choose the category new tickets go into. Create one in Discord first if you have none.
  4. Save.
  5. Send the panel: pick a channel in the dashboard, or type $panel 1 in the channel where members should open tickets.

Done. Press Create ticket with a second account to see what members see.

Test with a real second account, not with Discord's "View server as role". Tickets grant access per member, so the role preview does not show what a member really sees.

#Where to go next

  • The setup checklist walks through the settings worth a look before you go live.
  • Panels explains the option groups of a panel.
  • Variables shows how to put names, numbers and times into messages.
  • Premium lists what Premium adds and what stays free.
