Transcripts
Where transcripts go, what they contain, how long they are kept and who can open them.
A transcript is a readable copy of a ticket: every message with author, time, embeds and attachment names. The bot builds it as a web page and stores it on the platform.
#Saving a transcript
- Press Transcript in the team controls of a closed ticket.
- Run
$transcriptinside a ticket. - Let the bot save one automatically when a ticket closes or is deleted (Premium, see below).
#Transcript channel
The bot posts the transcript message with an Open transcript button here. Without a channel, it answers in the ticket with the link instead.
#Transcript message
The message posted with each transcript. Default: Transcript of {channel.name}. Opened by {ticket.user}. with the title Transcript saved.
#Automatic transcripts
Premium. Four switches:
- Save on close posts a transcript to the transcript channel when a ticket closes.
- Save on delete does the same when a ticket is deleted, which also covers tickets deleted without closing.
- DM on close sends the transcript to the ticket owner when the ticket closes.
- DM on delete sends it to the owner on delete.
Direct messages only arrive if the owner allows DMs from server members.
#The transcript link
Every saved transcript has its own link on the website, /transcripts/ followed by its id. The transcript message carries it as the Open transcript button. In the dashboard, Transcripts lists every transcript of the server with buttons to open it or copy the link.
The page follows the light or dark mode of your system; the round button at the top switches between them.
#Download a transcript
Above the transcript, Download offers three files. The dashboard has the same choice in the transcript list.
- HTML is the transcript page itself. It opens in any browser without the website.
- TXT is plain text: time, author and message, one after the other.
- CSV is a table with one row per message, for spreadsheets.
Times in TXT and CSV are in UTC.
#Who can open a transcript
The link opens the transcript in the browser after a Discord sign-in. It works for people who took part in the ticket and for members who can manage the server. Everyone with access to the dashboard finds all transcripts of the server under Transcripts.
#How long transcripts are kept
| Plan | Kept |
|---|---|
| Free | 30 days from saving |
| Premium | As long as Premium runs |
- With Premium, no transcript expires, however old it is. That includes transcripts from before the upgrade that are still there.
- When Premium ends, every transcript stays 30 more days. After that, the free rule applies and transcripts older than 30 days are deleted. Renew within that time and nothing is lost.
- Expired transcripts are deleted from the platform once a day. Until then, the link says that the transcript has expired.
Keep the .html file from the transcript message, or save a copy from the browser, if you need a transcript for longer.
